Main Plot

The world of Bloodborne is set in the gothic city of Yharnam, which is plagued by a terrifying disease that transforms people into beasts. The player takes on the role of a Hunter who arrives in the city seeking a mysterious blood treatment, only to be drawn into the Night of the Hunt—a brutal cycle where Hunters kill monstrous creatures and eventually each other as madness takes hold. As the Hunter delves deeper, they uncover that the source of the plague lies in the use of "Old Blood," a substance tied to ancient, godlike beings known as the Great Ones. The Healing Church, once revered for its miracles, secretly conducted experiments with this blood in pursuit of ascension, but only unleashed horror and insanity. The Hunter journeys through twisted dreamscapes and nightmarish realms, encountering cosmic entities and unraveling the truth of humanity's fragile place in an uncaring universe. Depending on the choices made, the ending varies: the Hunter might awaken from the nightmare, succeed a predecessor in maintaining the cycle, or transcend humanity entirely by becoming a new Great One, forever bound to the dream.
